Ranjitsinh Disale of Solapur gets the coveted $1 Million Global Teacher Award
Ranjitsinh Disale has won the Global Teacher Award this year. He is the first Indian to receive this honour. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has congratulated Ranjitsinh Disale for his win.
Solapur teacher Ranjitsinh Disale has won the Global Teacher Award this year. He is the first Indian to win the award. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has congratulated Ranjitsinh Disale on begin the first Indian to win the Global Teacher Prize 2020. Disale won the award for his efforts to promote girls' education and for the work done in the field of education through QR coded books.
Ranjitsinh Disale, a 32-year-old teacher from Paritewadi village in Maharashtra’s Solapur district emerged the winner out of the nominations of 12,000 teachers from 140 countries around the world.
Disale who won 7 crore prize money announced that fifty percent of the total prize money will be given to 9 finalists, which will provide quality education to thousands of children in 9 countries.
As per The Hindu report, Disale said, “Teachers are the real change-makers who are changing the lives of their students with a mixture of chalk and challenges. They always believe in giving and sharing. And, therefore, I am very pleased to announce that I will share 50% of the prize money equally among my fellow top 10 finalists to support their incredible work. I believe, together, we can change this world because sharing is growing.”
